Twins' First Birthday!!

Happy 1st Birthday Owen and Oliver!!

This past weekend we celebrated the babies' first birthday and it was tons of fun!  Get ready, there are a lot of pictures in this post! 

The boys wore their special 1st birthday shirts, and it was hard to capture a picture of the two birthday monkeys in these new shirts because they were so anxious to play.  Notice the birthday scratch Owen gave Oliver on the cheek after Oliver tried to take his Valentine monkey away.
















After their morning nap we took a big trip...to Wegmans!!!  I mean, who wouldn't want to go to Wegmans for the first time on their birthday?!  The boys got to ride in their new car (we've said bye bye to the Eclipse forever) and new big boy carseats for the first time.  Notice the "Customer With Child" parking space, haha!  They really enjoyed the shopping cart ride - Wegmans is the only place I've seen that has a double seat and belts up front for them to share.  I didn't realize how stimulating all the smells, colors, and people are in a grocery store can be.  Check out the aisles from a baby's perspective.

We picked up their cakes and balloons and went home for some festivities... after another nap.  One of the birthday boys decided he didn't want to nap, and so stayed up to play while his brother slept.



























We served cake after their afternoon milk snack - Owen had a chocolate cake with custard filling and Oliver a vanilla cake with strawberry filling.  I don't think Owen ever got past the icing and to any of the cake.  He was upset by the messiness of it all, particularly after icing got all over his elbow, topped off by us putting a strange hat on his head.  Oliver liked his sweets - he ate a whole piece and kept looking at Owen and wondering why he didn't like his cake and hat.

Next it was time for a bath and then some presents.  They boys loved the talking Elmo Megan gave them.  Oliver kept trying to bite Elmo while he was still in the box!  Then Owen took a turn trying to "talk" to Elmo.  We also let them try out a new pop-up tunnel that Ryan picked out for them.  Oliver loved crawling through it, but Owen has yet to venture inside.  We've tried putting all his favorite toys in the middle, but he's still too scared to try it!
