Snow Tubing
This weekend we took a trip with some friends and their 3 year old twins to Whitetail Resort for snow tubing. We all had a blast and Mommy and Daddy learned a little lesson which we already sort of new - the boys want to go BIG when it comes to adventures and thrills like this!! I know all 4 grandparents are laughing as they read this, thinking "yep, no surprise there"! Here's what happened - when we first arrived, having never been snow tubing with little ones before, we bought the kiddie passes for 2-4 year olds. This allowed them to use a mini tube on a "hill" off to the side of the big snow tubing area. But after sitting in the small tubes for a minute or two and catching sight of the bigger, faster ones zooming down the huge hill, with people riding an escalator up to the top...there was no having it with the baby stuff!! We had to go trade up our passes to use the larger tubing slopes and suddenly all the tears turned into smiles and we were off. Even with an automatic conveyor to stand on and drag tubes up (and this thing moved quickly) there were logistical issues to work out. Between the two families, we had to get 9 big tubes and 5 kids all age three and under safely on and off without losing anyone or anything. For the first couple runs until we got the hang of it, one of the employees volunteered to jump on with us and help carry the load. Once at the top, all riders had to be seated in their own tube, and we were allowed to hold the long strap to link up to 4 tubes together. So we had fun trying out a few different configurations. The middle part of the video shows Ryan going down with the 3 boys. We lasted a long time out there, until Spencer was the first to crack wanting food. The rest soon followed, and the kids experienced that rewarding feeling of satisfying your hunger après-ski for the first time!
