This fall I signed up for one slot in a Mommy and Me "Fun in the Fall" class at a nearby Rec center. I wasn't sure what the setup would be (i.e. how big is the classroom and how much trouble can the boys get into if they run off), so thought I would try it out with only one twin each week, and rotate who goes each time. It has actually worked out nicely - the class is small and even though there is a structured activity, it is laid back enough for the kids who decide they want to wander off and do something else. Plus, I get to spend some one on one time with the boys. Last week was the first class and I took Owen because I thought he would be more apt to sitting and doing a craft with the group. He was really good about sitting down at the craft table and decorating a plate like a pumpkin; then we added another plate, some beans in between, and had a pumpkin shaker! Overall, he is usually more nervous at this stage about being in a new environment than Oliver so it is good practice to be out without his twin. The cutest thing is that both of them look around and call out the other's name periodically when they are on an outing alone with me. Yesterday was Oliver's turn and he was his usual outgoing self! Toward the end, the teacher called everyone over to the story mat and asked if any of the kids wanted to help turn the pages and flip the cut-outs in the book. Oliver was the first one up there and was really into all the Halloween books they read!
