Fort

We've had the old baby gates out to block off the exits in the living room during the music class we host on Wednesdays (imagine trying to contain 13 toddlers in one room for 45 minutes...but that's for a future post!).  But in between classes the boys have found an alternate use for them - FORT!  The video is pretty cute, the boys just sat and traded flashlights back and forth peacefully for a few minutes, not even paying attention to me videoing them.

When Spencie woke up from his nap, he was so excited to get in on the fort action!!  He crawled right in and took over...declaring the fort his and running off the big boys.  The only intruder he had to fend off after that was Wesley, who secretly claims the fort as his after the boys go to sleep at night.

Head Banging

A strange activity the twins do sometimes after they wake up from their nap...banging heads on their cribs!  One gets the other going and they laugh at the noise they are making while doing it.  I think that's the goal for them - to make noise, letting everyone know they're up, and this particular racket usually gets me running into their room pretty quickly to tell them to stop doing it!  Last week I recorded it on the video monitor while I was playing with Spencie downstairs.  It's funny to watch them laughing over this!

Turkey Jamboree

The day before Thanksgiving, Ryan and I took the boys to a Turkey Jamboree at the community center for some fun games and crafts.  The boys really like the "ooey gooey fun" station where they could play with sticky stuff and hammer plastic nails into a pumpkin.  Owen was especially into carefully hammering each nail into that pumpkin!  He wasn't into the hand print turkey too much, mostly because he didn't like getting paint all over his hand and cried for me to wipe it off right away.  Oliver liked this one though, and made a couple different hand prints with daddy.  Then off to an egg hunt outside, during which they became distracted halfway through by the slides.  Spencie had a fun time watching and taking in all the excitement!

Checking out the inside of a pumpkin!  Not too sure about this!

Thanksgiving Day

We celebrated a very nice Thanksgiving with a visit from Pap Pap and a very delicious, pop in the oven and serve meal from Honey Baked Ham!  Before dinner, we went on a walk with the choo choo wagon and then came back to play in the yard for a bit.  I put some little sneakers on Spencie and instead of being pushed around the driveway and yard in the stroller like usual, we let him try and "walk" with the lawn mower.  He was so excited to be playing with yet another big boy toy - and one of their most prized toys at that!  I really hope we don't have to get 3 of those things.

All the boys were very good eaters at dinner and the twins had lots of "gobble gobble" sounds to make.  Everyone ate ham except for Owen of course - even Spencie had several tiny bites.  Oliver loved the ham a little too much...I think he had more than me!  And he's had ham leftovers for practically every meal since, from ham and eggs for breakfast, to ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch, to more ham at dinner!  Boy he's going to be disappointed when it runs out.  The video at the end is a cute exchange between Owen and Spencer - Owen started out giving Spencie a high five, and the two couldn't stop making each other laugh by the end.

Teamwork to give Spencie a ride!

Oliver loving the ham!

Who is the biggest ham???

Where Oscar Lives

This week we experienced one of those funny moments, where kids take something they've seen in books or on TV literally and apply it to real life.  We have a book called Grouchy Hugs, featuring Oscar the Grouch and his adventures in his trash can.  Which makes you wonder, why did the makers of Sesame Street think it was a good idea to have one of their main characters living in a trash can?  Because now the twins have started looking for Oscar in every round shaped trash can they come across.  These pictures are from our day on the playground yesterday, where there happens to be one such can.  It was really cute and funny because they really thought he was in there.  They kept circling the can, calling out Oscar, Oscar!

Oscar's home sighted...

Kissing Oscar...gross I know, we pulled him off immediately!
