Toy Rotation

I've been so tired lately, and staying up until almost 1am last night didn't help, but I got a burst of energy to create a toy rotation system that I've been wanting to do for some time.  The twins club recently had a guest speaker from a group called the Intelligence Nest who talked about the importance of rotating toys and not having overly stocked play areas.  I wasn't able to make the meeting and hear the speaker in person, but the club posted handouts and I was also able to get a lot out of the website:

Our playroom was getting out of hand with too many toys, and as the Intelligence Nest confirms - kids just get overwhelmed and eventually bored with so much.  Having fewer, fresh toys each week makes such a big difference!  So I went to Target and got 4 large bins to create a weekly system.  It was actually kinda fun and I can see myself getting into this even more once I'm a little more rested and have some practice.  But you're supposed to mix up and spread out the toys, including one or two different toys from various categories each week - music, logic, books, vehicles, building, active play etc.  Just starting this organization effort made me realize that we have A LOT of toys.  This picture doesn't even include the big stuff - push cars, ride-ons, etc.  I should have taken a "before" picture of the playroom, but didn't think of that until it was too late, so there's an "after" picture that I took at 1am when I called it quits and set out the toys for the week.  More to come on the success of the new system!!
