On Tuesday the big boys had a Valentine's Day party at preschool. Ryan and I had our first glimpse into decision making for our kids that might affect their "social circles" and laughed at how much thought we put into the whole Valentine's for preschoolers process. Ryan made a late night run to Safeway, and not liking the selection there, went next door to CVS and wound up with a set of 27 dog/cat hologram Valentines. The boys only needed to bring 10 each to class, but when I was putting the cards into the envelopes I realized that some kids might get 2 of the same one from our boys if we just picked 10 each at random. So I separated the cats and the dogs, giving Owen all cats and Oliver all dogs so that their classmates would get one of each! Way too much thought...I know, but an easy solution! I'm sure there will be much more thinking and problem solving along these lines as the boys get older and weave a more intricate circle of friends.
After dropping them off in the morning, Spencie and I hit the mall for a haircut and choo choo train ride after. It was really nice walking in to the empty salon and having no wait. Spencer eagerly jumped up into the chair with his lollipop and watched Cars on the TV while he got a much needed trim. It's so funny to watch him, he really likes getting his hair cut! It's probably the whole TV and lollipop thing, but I think he enjoys the pampering too :) After we picked Owen and Oliver up and had lunch at home, it was time to open the boys' Valentine's bags and see all the cards and treats. They had so much fun looking at the cards and eating some of the candies, all while wearing their heart shaped pasta necklaces! Spencer especially liked getting a few skittles, which was a first for all of them. It kind of felt like a mini Halloween, dumping bags of treats all over the table and excitedly going through it...so much fun!
