Big Snow and Big Fun!
Last Saturday we got A LOT of snow, on top of what we already had...and I was on my own to clear a way out in case of emergency. Since it was coming down nonstop all day, the only chance I had to shovel was to sneak out during nap time, and boy did I spend the whole 2+ hours shoveling without a break! After my 2 hours was up, I had only just broken through to the pipe stem with a single path down the driveway and it was time to head back inside. The house looked so pretty covered in snow, so I ran inside and quickly grabbed my nice camera to take a couple pictures. After a day of staying house bound and only getting to watch the heavy snow fall, the boys were ready and raring to go play the next morning! It was a nice bright and sunny day, and the fresh snow was powdery and perfect for playing. The boys had some fun climbing and jumping off the big snow banks in the driveway, sliding down the fort into the snow, and making snow angels before we headed over to the sledding hill at the back of the yard. After a few runs we took a little break from climbing the hill and built a snowman. It only took a few minutes to easily roll 3 big snowballs to make a snowman taller than the boys! One of the boys neighborhood friends was on her way over with a carrot nose and other supplies to finish the face. When she showed up with butterscotch chips for the eyes and nose, which the boys had never tried, they went crazy (and were also pretty hungry by that point). The snowman fell over before we got a picture with all his accessories, but you can see what it looked like in the last video...and watch the boys searching for and eating fallen butterscotch chips on the ground!

Birthday Snow
Owen and Oliver's 4th birthday was Tuesday, the first snow day in a week filled with snow days. I was the only disappointed that they wouldn't be able to bring the cute Nemo cupcakes I made the night before into school to share with their classmates. They woke up to balloons and special Nemo T-shirts customized with their names and a big number 4! I was so happy that they loved the shirts - when we took them off to dress for going out in the snow, the first thing they wanted to do after coming back inside was put the shirts back on! They got special birthday cups with silly straws, little Nemo toys I found at the dollar store, and a package of new underwear that had one pair with Nemo on it and Oliver kept in his possession all morning (look closely in the first picture). The best present of all was the brand new snowfall and a bright, sunny morning to head out and play. Owen made a new discovery - that he could roll down the sledding hill without a sled, just as you might picture someone rolling down a grassy hill. I was surprised that he liked it so much and didn't complain about getting snow in his face! Spencer jumped right in and started rolling with him too. With all the tons of snow we got today, I'm hoping the weather holds up for their big party next weekend!
