Valentine's Treats
It turns out that Valentine's Day is the new Halloween, judging by the bags full of treats the boys brought home from their respective parties at school last week! Hardly anyone exchanges a simple valentine card anymore...they now come with some sort of treat or big item attached. There are even dedicated aisles at Target during the month of February with treat-sized bags of almost any kind of candy or snack you could think of, ready to be labeled and sent to school. And with 3 kids, that meant I had to get 32 "valentines" to cover all of their classmates. Look at all the goodies Spencer brought home from his 2 year old class below! Yes, that includes a full-sized Elmo book, a heart-shaped rice krispie treat, red mailbox with tiny kit for S'mores and a Burt's Beeswax chap stick (I pocketed that one)! By the time the real Valentine's Day came, we were already burnt out on candy and red, pink, and purple crafts...but still had it in us to make pink pancakes with red sprinkles, which the boys were really excited about helping cook! On a totally unrelated side note - when Owen was mad at me a couple days ago for not dropping everything to go and look for a toy he couldn't find, he threatened, "I'm going to cook everyday, all the time if you don't go get it for me"! I might just take him up on that one...the pink pancakes were pretty good! We also had fun with heart-shaped straws and glasses!
