Spencie wanted to get in on my recent spree of "talking" videos, so yesterday he said his first discernible word (other than mama and dada babbles)...and what do you know, it was one of Oliver's firsts too (and Owen shortly after) - "Outside"!! These are definitely outside boys...it's where they want to go at every chance. Spencie had woken up from his afternoon nap and I was trying to get him to fall back asleep with me on the bed in his room. He snoozed for a bit, then got up and was all bouncing and smiles, and I knew the nap was officially over. The room was still almost completely dark from the blackout shades, but there was still a small amount of light sneaking through the window edges. He looked over at the window and said "outside" in a very fuzzy, baby-talk voice. I asked him if that's what he was saying by repeating "outside" in a questioning voice and pointing to the window, and sure enough his face light up in confirmation (and excitement that I understood him) and he said it over and over again. We took this video during dinner that night when Ryan came home.
I can already tell one day later, now that he's made that verbal connection with us, he's trying to say other words too. He has a vague version of "Oliver", that actually sounds pretty similar to the way Owen says, "Ahhh Va". Like everything else, he's way ahead of the curve compared to the twins, who started talking around 13 months.
