Earlier this week, an accessory I've been looking forward to buying for our City Select stroller arrived - the toddler glider board - effectively making our double stroller a triple! We took a trip to the mall to try it out and see how well behaved the boys might be all loaded up on one stroller. Before we left I asked them to go to the front door and put their shoes on, and so they proceeded to take out Mommy and Daddy's shoes and try those on instead.
When we got to the mall they did great!! So far Owen is the designated toddler board rider since he has always been the one wanting out of the stroller to help Mommy push anyway, and probably more reliable when it comes to listening to directions and not running off. Spencer and Oliver are perfectly happy to sit back and enjoy the ride in their comfy seats once strapped in. The biggest obstacle is getting them all back in after a fun activity is over! First we rode the mall choo choo train and I think it was the first time Spencer has been big enough to really know and appreciate what was going on. His little chubby cheeks and face of anticipation before we started was so cute. Afterward, the promise of going upstairs to the mall playground was enough to coax them back into the stroller, and then after that the promise of a ride on the carousel (which was the first time the boys have all ridden on the horses...they've always been too nervous and sat in the carousel "chair" instead). They were so funny, saying "up, up, up" and "down, down, down" each time the horses went up and down. But after all the fun was over, I had to build up the excitement of going back out to the car to watch an Elmo DVD on the way home...but that didn't really cut it. When we stopped at the doors to put coats on and leave, the second the stroller straps were undone the twins took off wanting to push all the handicap door buttons (and escape outside). And then of course the arching of backs and refusal to get in car seats added another 5-10 minutes to our departure. They must have been really worn out because before lunch was over, Owen was requesting a nap!!
