Spencer's Birthday Evening

In continuation of Spencie's special day...Daddy came home early from work and we opened some presents and had pizza and cake for dinner.  Spencie opened a new toy I've been excited about getting for the boys for some time now - a portable LED light board.  The possibilities with this thing are endless, and I've been following a couple really creative light table blogs and Facebook pages, so watch out for much more to come on this in the future!  We also read a new book, Polar Bear Polar Bear, while waiting for the pizza.  When it was time for cake, Spencie knew exactly what to do and almost blew out his number "2" candle out on his own...but agreed to let his eager brothers help out.  There's no doubt anymore that these 3 boys like cake - everyone had bright blue lips and teeth in the end.  That night was really windy out and the lights flickered on and off a couple times while we were finishing up with the cake.  Ryan and I jokingly said it must be cookie monster's cousin, "cake monster" coming to get some birthday cake, but got a much more fearful and dramatic reaction than we expected!  Owen was almost in tears because he was so scared and worried, and we quickly had to mend the situation by telling the boys that cake monster wouldn't be able to get in since all the doors were closed and locked.  Further, by putting the cake back in the box and into the refrigerator, cake monster would no longer be able to smell it and would move on to another house searching for cake (this also helped in convincing Owen that his 3rd serving of cake was his last and got him to stop begging for more)!!  Video on choosing cake slices and cake monster are at the end :)
