Friday morning was the first "shorts" day of the year. We were headed out the door for a quick trip to the Reston zoo when I realized it was really hot outside and quickly changed everyone into t-shirts and shorts. The boys were outside for less than a minute when I heard screaming and saw Owen running back with a huge skinned knee. I guess he misjudged how much lighter he was with less clothing and overdid the sprinting down the sidewalk. He was really brave as he sat on the front step and waited for me to grab some doctor supplies. Oliver took his job holding a paper towel on the bleeding knee very seriously - he's always been very concerned about others and their injuries, but I've never seen it to this extent, as he begged me to hurry and squirmed as if he were the one in pain. As I cleaned some of the dirt from the wound and Owen cried a little, Oliver cried even more, once again begging me to hurry up and put the Band-Aid on. Both Spencer and Oliver took turns gently kissing the owie after it was all fixed up, but Oliver spent the rest of the day talking about Owen's owie and telling me how worried he was about him...an adorable case of twin sympathy pain!!
