We've had a lot of fun playing with water beads lately this past week. We started out putting them into a container of water and just playing with all the colors over the light panel, but then Owen and Oliver wanted to "keep" the beads, claiming several as their own, so I gave each a glass jar of new beads in water to take care of and watch grow. Spencer wasn't interested in much more than smashing the beads in his hands once they had grown to be big, fat, and mushy (I admit, it was irresistible and fun to do). So the big boys were excited to have their very own jar to tote around the house (keep away from Spencer) and demonstrate that they can handle fragile items. A couple days later we decided it was time to open the jars up and play with the beads outside in the big container of water, which also had become home to one of those grow snakes that expands 600% in water over a couple days. They were entertained for over an hour with this activity, pushing the snake around and pretending he was eating the beads. In the end, most of the beads had been smashed, thrown, or taken for a tractor ride down the driveway and we moved on to chalk and other toys. I took out a couple of empty spray bottles and the snake pool became the fill station for "pretend bug spray". The boys walked around "washing" toys, chairs, my car, and each other until it was time for lunch!
