Tuesday was one of the last mornings I'll have alone with Spencer this school year (next week is the last week of preschool for the twins). Next fall, we'll have Wednesdays together while Owen and Oliver move up to 3 days of preschool. We took a spin through the dollar store for some trinkets and to look for new painting sponges. He was so cute chattering away as we walked up and down the aisles, pointing out all the different color faux flowers and asking me over and over if I could open the Mickey Mouse figurine he picked out. Afterward, we headed to the "airplane" playground in the Wegmans plaza in Sterling to play for a bit before doing some grocery shopping. While he played, I once again noticed how different things are when his brothers aren't around. The 3 of them drum up so much fun and excitement all on their own in any setting, that when any 1 of them is ever alone they seem a little lost with a, "what do I do now?" look on their face. It reminded me how lucky they are to have each other, so close in age, and to spend these carefree days playing and bonding.
After preschool, everyone still had a lot of energy and I had an idea to take advantage of the rest of the hot afternoon sunshine before nap time. We ate a quick lunch and then went outside in bathing suits to transform the fort slide into a water slide. I also tried out a little fire hydrant sprinkler that I picked out earlier in the week and Spencer especially liked running through it! By the end of our time outside, the water in the pink pool was no longer clean and clear, but dirty, grassy and filled with miscellaneous water toys. But everyone was ready to retreat into the air conditioning for a long nap!
