Paddle Boats
On Friday we packed a lunch and headed down to the Tidal Basin to try out the paddle boats. The boys have really wanted to go on one ever since we were down there for the cherry blossoms a few weeks ago and they first spotted them. When we asked if they wanted to go paddle boating after breakfast, they remembered the blue boats right away and started running all over the house with excitement, talking about how each boy was going to "drive his own" boat. It was a beautiful, sunny day and perfect for being out on the water. We split into 2 boats, me with Owen and Spencer, and Ryan with Oliver. The twins took "driving" the steering wheel very seriously, both getting the hang of it quickly and taking charge of their respective boats. Spencer was the laid back cruiser of the bunch, reclining back with his sun glasses, hat, and water bottle to take in the monuments and watch the helicopters overhead. The hour went by really fast and we found ourselves high tailing it back in from the far side of the basin when we realized that we'd gone over the allotted time. We'll definitely have to repeat this fun and relaxing outing again...the boys have been talking about paddle boats a lot since, even biting their morning waffles into "paddle boat shapes" today!
