Owen and Screws

One of the unique characteristics we've noticed in Owen since he was probably big enough to hold a spoon has been his mechanical inclination.  He's always interested in playing with little pieces and parts, trying to figure out how things work.  His patience and ability to control these things at his age with such tiny fingers is quite impressive.  In the first picture below, he insisted on helping turn the screws into the new toy Megan sent the boys for Christmas.  Ryan let him work on it with a real screwdriver for about 20 minutes and he was actually getting them in.  Meanwhile, Oliver was trying to crawl inside the box - yes, that's him completely inside a box that is much too small for him in the third picture.

We knew Owen would especially love the workbench we gave them for Christmas because it has a bunch of plastic screws and a power drill.  It didn't take him long to figure out how to use the drill to get them in and then reverse it to pull them back out.  Spencie likes to get in on the workbench too because it's a great toy for pulling himself up on and cruising along.  He's been into handing his toys to me lately - he's offering me the wrench he's been playing with in the last picture.
