Preschool Party!

Owen and Oliver's preschool class invited the parents in for a Halloween party Tuesday morning.  The kids didn't know parents were coming, and so the teachers had all the adults wait in another room while they marched the kids in to sing two Halloween songs.  As you can see in the video, they all walk in, line up and then are suddenly caught off guard by seeing all of the mommies and daddies across the room.  The teachers told us during parent's night earlier in the month that this would probably happen and that they would be the only ones singing for us!  But it was still really cute to see all the kids in their costumes following instructions from their teachers so well.  Owen didn't want to wear his mouse ears, glasses, tail, or black tights...so he was dressed all in grey with a black nose and some whiskers drawn on his face.  Oliver on the other hand wanted all his props on, and we were told that he insisted on wearing the glasses on all morning from the moment I dropped him off!

After the "performance", we all went back into their classroom and watched the kids identify colors to get a seat at the table for a special snack.  They said a little blessing together and then indulged in chocolate cupcakes!  I added a video of this at the end, and also a longer one of all the kids sitting back and enjoying the party.  The teachers were so nice and let Spencer pull up a chair at the table and have a cupcake too.  He was so cute and happy to be participating with the big kids.  And it was funny to sit there and realize that roughly 30% of the kids at the classroom table were mine, haha!  Oliver and Spencer devoured their cupcakes while Owen picked at his, trying to decipher the orange sprinkles on top.  He did however eat the candy corn passed out!  We ended our fun morning out on the school's brand new playground, which Spencer had not been on yet and enjoyed trying out.  I think he's already looking forward to when he can start preschool next fall!  And the cutest ending to the day was Owen talking about his preschool party and repeatedly telling both Ryan and I, "I'm so glad you came!"
