Spencer's Turn!

This past week I've seen an amazing leap in Spencer's speech.  I've gotten so used to his little one or two word phrases, that I was caught off guard when I heard him suddenly making more complex demands of the twins with words he's picked up from them!  I was trying to vacuum up some crumbs in the kitchen last Tuesday afternoon and there was a mad dash to get a turn "helping" push it around.  Owen and Oliver are constantly saying "Owen's turn" or "Oliver's turn", so when I heard Spencer loudly declare, "Spencer's turn!" I laughed out loud.  He's held his own in getting a turn with most things when there's one to be had since he could walk, and now he's making sure we all know it.  How many toddlers does it take to vacuum a few crumbs up!??

Another funny thing that happened was when he started asking Owen and Oliver to fill his water cup for him.  The first time I saw this he was sitting at the kitchen table, handed Owen his cup and said "more Owen".  Owen diligently ran over to the fridge and filled the cup with just the right amount of water and brought it back to Spencer.  This happened several times as Spencie wanted refills... or maybe to see just how many times he could get Owen to do it, but Owen seemed to be enjoying waiting on his little brother.  I caught a similar instance of this on video the next day, only this time Oliver was involved and was not as precise in filling the cup!  Eventually Owen stepped in and finished the job.  I love the "thank you, Owen" at the end, as does Owen!
