Twins' Halloween Performance

Wednesday was Owen and Oliver's preschool Halloween performance and party.  Since they've been studying the human body, including learning about their skeletons, in class this month he asked if I could get him a skeleton costume!  We also found a cute Halloween kids video of dancing skeletons on You Tube that he really loves.  It has two little skeletons that sing and dance - one is a boy and the other presumably a girl because of the pink bow on her head.  He specifically asked to be the girl skeleton and begged me to find him a pink bow!  Owen was a Lightning McQueen race car driver (his favorite Disney character).  Over 40 kids from the two 3 year old classes and two 4 year old classes lined up and paraded upstairs to the fellowship hall where they stood on stage and performed 18 songs!!  Many were very short songs, but we were still amazed at how well all the children sang.  I heard Owen loud and clear most of the time and you'll also notice in the video that he did a great job with the body movements.  If you're ready for almost 10 whole minutes of cuteness, the video is below.  It gets a little shaky at times as Daddy was also wrangling Spencer in the front row while I took pictures.  Afterward, we enjoyed quite a feast that collectively the parents and school put on for all the families.

Go Away Big Green Monster!

The boys have been reading a book at preschool called "Go Away Big Green Monster" and love talking about it and pretending the monster is hiding in their rooms as they go hunting for it together.  This afternoon Oliver asked if he could make the green monster out of play-doh.  I found an adaptation of the story as a song on You Tube this week, and he wanted me to pause it on the face so he could see what it looked like as he worked his creation.  I helped by cutting out paper for the eyes, mouth, and teeth (he specifically requested I use both the white and yellow paper for the eyes, just like it the picture), and Owen glued the pieces together.  I'd say he did a really good job and was impressed that he came up with the idea and was so determined to make it look just right!

Spencer's Halloween Party

Spencer's preschool Halloween celebration was on Tuesday and he was dead set on dressing up as a tiger.  A friend brought the costume over the afternoon before as an extra, along with 2 others that were intended to be "backup" costumes for Owen and Oliver.  I had their "Three Little Pigs" costume that they wore to a couple parties over the weekend ready, but I think the boys wanted to show off their individual flare for the preschool performances and each pick something different.  Prior to the tiger suit arriving Spencer was supposed to be a fire fighter, but once he laid eyes on that tiger suit his mind was made up!  He pranced around in it all Monday evening practicing his roars.  When we showed up for the class performance, Spencer was so excited about seeing us (even though we had told him that we were coming for his party) that he stopped in his tracks and didn't do anything other than repeat "My Mommy and Daddy are here" instead of singing the songs!  Which was too bad because he probably would have been one of the best singers since he practices the songs with his brothers and knew them really well, but cute that he was excited to see us and declare to everyone that we were there.  Afterward, the class had some special treats and then went out to play on the playground.  It was pretty warm for late October (80 degrees) and I think Spencer was happy to take the puffy tiger off for a short while!
