An Apple A Day

The boys like apples for a snack; I usually peel one and then cut it up into little bite-sized cubes for them to grab from their little table in the kitchen.  Once in a while they like to mix things up by dipping the bites into some honey or peanut butter, and suddenly it's a reinvented fruit!  Yesterday I was peeling an apple at the kitchen sink and Spencer just could not wait any longer to have some, so I held out the mostly peeled apple for him to take a bite...and he was hooked.  He ran off with that apple so fast, I was curious to see if he was going to continue eating it or wind up throwing it down the steps into the family room like a toy.  Well he worked and worked on it, until it was down to the core!  Toward the end, he wandered into the living room with it and started chewing off the small piece of peel that was still around the top while I was taking a video.  That's when Oliver comes running in asking for his own apple.  I peeled him one, but after a couple minutes of gnawing at it he lost interest and guess who picked up where he left off on apple #2!  Meanwhile, Owen waited for all the apple eating hype to die down and for Mommy to cut what was left over into the normal cubes he's used accustomed to.
