Crystal City Lunch

Today was a fun day that took an unexpected but interesting turn.  We all hurried out of the house this morning to make the 9:15 drop-off at preschool.  Somehow I misplaced my house key (which Ryan had separated from the main key-chain the night before while working on the front door lock) but did not notice until lunch time.  After drop-off, I experienced for the first time what it must be like as a stay at home mom of 1 or even 2 kids separated by a couple years!  Spencer and I breezed into Starbucks for a breakfast sandwich and coffee, then stopped over to the Great Falls playground for an hour and a half.  Oh how easy and relaxed it seems to me to carry one baby around town, while indulging in simple pleasures such as food and drink for Mommy (normally forgotten or caught up on several hours later in the day!)  So we played and snacked together on the playground (I caught Spencie take a sip of my iced macchiato)...but honestly, I could tell he was a little lost without the constant excitement of having his brothers around!  He kept saying their names and looking at me questioningly, and was happy when I told him we had to get back in the car to go pick them up.  When we got home for lunch I discovered the missing house key and called Ryan to tell him we would drive to his work to pick it up.  Even though this was a big deviation in our schedule, it was fun to have lunch with Daddy and take a little driving tour by the Pentagon and all the nearby sights of DC we passed.  The boys got a Chic-Fil-A treat for lunch and spent a little time exploring Daddy's office afterward.  Owen and Oliver must have had a busy morning at preschool because they were both asleep within minutes on our ride home, while Spencer stayed awake and watched a Care Bears video...maybe it was the caffeine?
